Fritz Steinhaus
Fritz Steinhaus (born February 7, 1883 in Gütersloh ; † March 5, 1937 there ) was a German writer who made outstanding contributions to the Low German dialect .
Life
Fritz Steinhaus attended the old town school ( elementary school ) and the Evangelical Stiftische Gymnasium in his hometown of Gütersloh . He completed an apprenticeship as a book printer in Bielefeld , Leipzig , Gütersloh and Hanover and passed the master craftsman examination in 1907. After that, however, he took over his father's cigar wholesaler in Gütersloh, which still exists today. During his life he went on business trips in northern Germany and collected Low German dönkes , poems and stories.
