Fritz Wenneis
Fritz Wenneis (born September 30, 1889 in Mannheim , † July 4, 1969 in Garmisch-Partenkirchen ) was a German film composer .
The son of a master baker grew up in his hometown and attended a teachers' seminar there after high school . He studied from 1909 to 1911 at the Academy of Music in Munich . His teachers were Felix Mottl , Hans Bußmeyer , Walter Courvoisier and Franz von Milde.
In 1911/12 he received singing lessons from Adolf Dippel in Frankfurt am Main . Wenneis began his professional activity as a conductor at the theater and for Ufa in silent films. He became head of the dubbing department at Tobis , and he also worked as a singing teacher.
From 1925 to 1933 he composed for the Berlin radio and taught at the Hochschule für Musik . With the beginning of the sound film age, he turned to film composition and worked as a freelancer since 1933. He often accompanied the productions of director and leading actor Harry Piel with his music .
Fritz Wenneis is buried in the Partenkirchen cemetery in Garmisch-Partenkirchen.
