Fu Bingchang also Foo Ping-sheung ( Chinese  傅 秉 常 , Pinyin Fù Bĭngcháng , W.-G. Fu Ping-ch'ang ; born February 16, 1896 in Foshan , Guangdong Province , Chinese Empire ; † July 29, 1965 ) was a politician and diplomat of the Republic of China .

Life

Fu Bingchang came from a wealthy family. In 1905 he studied at St. Stephen's College, Delhi. In 1916 he received his bachelor's degree in civil engineering from the University of Hong Kong. In 1931 he received an honorary doctorate from Hong Kong University .

He married into the family of Wu Tingfang, was attaché to the Canton delegation at the Paris Peace Conference in 1919 and secretary to Sun Yat-sen . In 1927 he was Deputy Foreign Minister of the Republic of China. In 1928, Fu Bingchang headed the Commission for the Codification of Civil Law.

He was a member of the Taizi pai (prince clique, clique around the son Sun Yat-sens , Sun Fo ) and held various offices in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs until he was promoted to a member of the Central Executive Committee in 1935. In 1942 he was deputy foreign minister.

From 1943 to 1949 he was ambassador to Moscow . From October 19 to 30, 1943, a conference of foreign ministers took place in Moscow. At the end of this, the Moscow Declaration was signed. The signatories included Cordell Hull , Anthony Eden , Vyacheslav Mikhailovich Molotov, and Fu Bingchang for the Chinese government.

From 1949 to 1956 he lived in Paris . Chiang Kai-shek appointed him vice-president of the Judicial Yuan in 1956 .

Fu was an avid amateur photographer and took photos of political leaders and their families.
