Fuggerhaus (Donauwörth)
The Fuggerhaus in Donauwörth , a town in the Swabian district of Donau-Ries , was built in the 16th century. The building at Hl.-Kreuz-Straße 1 or Pflegestraße 2 is a protected monument .
history
In 1536 Anton Fugger bought the house in which the imperial caretaker's apartment was and from 1537 had a representative new building built in its place. The builder Quirin Knoll drafted the plans . The building had to be restored after 1945 due to war damage. The district office of the Donau-Ries district has been located in the building for a long time .
description
The two-storey Renaissance building with high crenellated gables has a vaulted vestibule with a staircase on the ground floor . On the upper floor there is a portal reveal , which is marked with 1539. Parts of the magnificent interior are in the Bavarian National Museum in Munich .
