Funky diamonds
Funky Diamonds was the first German girl group to appear around the same time as the Spice Girls . They were also the first and most successful German girl group to represent the ideology of girl power .
history
The group originally consisted of the five members Simone, Diethilde, Indra, Sibel and Yvonne, who also knew each other privately before their time together in the spotlight. Due to the consequences of a serious traffic accident, Sibel had to leave the group again, but Kira took her place in 1996. Just three years later, she left the band.
From 1993 to 1996 the Funky Diamonds were active as a pure dance group, among other things as background dancers for DJ BoBo . Thus, the record company was Boombastic Music Berlin attention to her and took her friends under contract . In addition, her career was supported by vocal coaching from then on , so that she soon advanced to become vocal artists. The group had great success mainly in Japan , where they received a gold award for their debut album ; however, it was not successful in Germany - despite appearances as the opening act for the Backstreet Boys and 'N Sync and high media presence.
After seven singles and two albums, the group broke up in December 1999. At the same time as the second album was released, Kira left the group. Although she can be heard on some of the songs, her photo was removed from the album cover as she did not participate in any of the appearances. However, it can be seen on the Japanese version.
Then Indra tried to land a comeback with a solo single, but due to personal differences with her management it stayed with a single.
They continue to work as dancers and call-in animators to this day.
