Funningsfjørður [ ˈfʊnːɪŋgsˌfjøːɹʊɹ ] ( Danish : Fundingsfjord ) is a place in the Faroe Islands on the east coast of Eysturoy .

Until January 1, 2005 Funningsfjørður belonged to the municipality of Elduvík , which has now been merged with that of Runavík .

Funningsfjørður lies at the end of the long fjord of the same name . It was founded in 1812. From 1902 to 1913 there was a whaling station here .
