Skálabotnur [ ˈskɔalaˌbɔtnʊɹ ] ( Danish name : Skålefjord ) is a place in the Faroe Islands on Eysturoy at the end of the Skálafjørður fjord . Often the name Skálafjørður is also used for this place. To avoid confusion with the fjord, the name Í Skálafirði was agreed .

Skálabotnur is home to one of the Faroe Islands' rare sandy beaches. The place was founded at the beginning of the 17th century , but excavations suggest that people have settled here earlier.

Today there is a fish fry farm here, which will be abandoned in aquaculture after a year and a half to two years .
