description

Furcraea samalana grows without a trunk or forms a trunk up to 0.5 meters (rarely up to 2 meters) long. The lanceolate, runny, almost smooth leaves taper to a long point in the upper part. Their green or very slightly grayish leaf blades are 100 to 200 centimeters long and 10 to 15 centimeters wide. The broad, flat outwardly curved leaf margin is concave and horny between the teeth. The reddish chestnut brown, slender and mostly inwardly curved marginal teeth run down over low, fleshy elevations. They are up to 7 millimeters long and are 2 to 5 centimeters (rarely 1 to 6 centimeters) apart. The peripheral teeth are missing in the upper half to the upper two thirds. An end pin is usually missing. If it is present, it is reddish and 1 to 2 millimeters long.

The elongated panicle inflorescence reaches a height of 3 to 5 meters and sometimes bears abundant conical-ovoid bulbils . The bracts are much shorter than the 3 to 6 millimeters (rarely up to 9 millimeters) long, bare flower stalks . The up to three together flowers are 50 to 55 millimeters long. Your elliptical to broadly elliptical, greenish yellow tepals are 30 to 40 millimeters long and 7 to 17 millimeters wide. The stamens are 12 to 14 millimeters long. The ovary has a length of 16 to 25 millimeters and is 2 to 4 millimeters wide.

Fruits and seeds are not described.
