features

The elongated, spindle-shaped, solid snail shell of Fusiturris similis reaches a length of about 3 to 6.5 cm in adult snails. It has a long siphon channel. The whorls are convex. The bowl is sculptured with fine, closely spaced ribs and fine, dense spiral lines. The surface of the shell is yellow, and beneath the seam, in the center of the perimeter of the body and low above the canal, there is a spiral of dark chocolate brown. The inside of the case mouth is whitish.

distribution and habitat

Fusiturris similis is distributed in Atlantic waters on the coasts of Europe , the Mediterranean Sea , the Canary Islands , Cape Verde Islands , the coast of Morocco , West Africa and Equatorial Africa. It lives in sea depths of around 50 to 120 m in coral reefs, bays on surfaces with mud, sand or gravel between rocks.

Development cycle

Like all leg snails, Fusiturris similis is of separate sexes. The Veliger larvae swim free before they sink and metamorphose into crawling snails .

nutrition

So far there are no studies on the diet of Fusiturris similis . Other club snails eat polychaete (Polychaeta), they with their Radulazähnen sting and poison.
