Gérald Rigolet (born March 26, 1941 in Rechthalten ) is a former Swiss ice hockey goalkeeper . During his ten-year career in National League A , he celebrated no fewer than seven championship titles (two with Villars HC , five with HC La Chaux-de-Fonds ).

Career

Rigolet began his ice hockey career in the offspring of HC Gottéron . Via HC Lugano , for which he played in the 1959/60 season, he came to Villars HC in 1961 , with whom he only rose from the NLB to the NLA in 1962 and won his first championship title in the following two seasons. In 1966 he switched to league rivals HC La Chaux-de-Fonds . With the Chaux-de-Fonniers he was champion five times in the following six seasons. In 1972 Rigolet moved to the 1st division for EV Zug , with whom he was able to celebrate one last success in 1974: promotion to the NLB. Rigolet set several records during his career. He stayed in the top league in Switzerland in 31 games without conceding a goal, four of them in a row.

International

In 1971 Rigolet won the B World Championship with the Swiss national ice hockey team and thus achieved promotion to the A group. In the decisive game for the tournament victory against the GDR , the Freiburg goalkeeper advanced to the match winner. In the sold-out Allmendstadion , Rigolet held 68 shots from the vastly superior opponent. Curious: Shortly before the end of the game, Rigolet collided with an opponent and lost his helmet. Bleeding from two head wounds, he played the game to the end and secured his team a 3-1 victory and the B world title. Rigolet also took part in two Winter Olympics : 1964 in Innsbruck , when Switzerland finished 10th and last with a goal difference of 9:57. Also in 1972 in Sapporo was Rigolet part of the banns.
