Gökçeharman is a place in the Turkish province of Sivas in central Anatolia . The district town of Divriği is 28 km to the east.

history

The village of Gökçeharman was founded about 210 years ago. The inhabitants of that time came from what is now the province of Tunceli (then Hozat ). The village is about 650 km from the capital Ankara . The provincial capital Sivas lies on the border between central and eastern Anatolia. The residents made their living mainly from agriculture and animal breeding. Because a railway line passed about 5 km away, some residents had a job on the railway.

Education and infrastructure

A village elementary school was built in the mid-1970s. Electricity has only been available since 1986. Of the former 80 houses, only two are still standing today.

population

About 300 people lived in the village until the mid-1950s. In the late 1950s, the younger male residents began to leave the village and looked for work in larger cities. They later brought family members to join them. Around 90 people with a Gökçeharman background now live in Istanbul , Ankara and Izmir , 70 people have emigrated to many different countries, including Germany, Austria , France , Canada , USA and Australia . Today 32 people still live in the village.
