The Gössnitzkopf ( 3,096 m above sea level ) is a mountain peak in the Schober group on the border between East Tyrol and Carinthia ( Austria ). It lies on the border between the communities of Nussdorf-Debant and Heiligenblut am Großglockner . Adjacent peaks are the southern and northern Talleitenspitze in the north-northwest .
The Gössnitzkopf is a little-known peak on the border between Carinthia and East Tyrol. It forms the highest point of a ridge above the Gössnitzscharte, which is traversed on the way between the Lienzer Hütte and the Elberfelder Hütte . The normal ascent to the Gössnitzkopf is from the Lienzer Hütte via the Gössnitzscharte on the eastern flank of the Gössnitzkopf. The unmarked path leads over stone and rubble heaps through the east-side flank, whereby the south-east ridge of the Gössnitzkopf is only reached shortly before the summit. The final climb has the difficulty I on. Another possibility to climb the Gössnitzkopf is the ascent from the Gössnitzscharte directly over the ridge, which, however, has degrees of difficulty from II to III and makes it advisable to use a safety rope.
