Götshangpa Gönpo Dorje ( Tib. Rgod tshang pa mgon po rdo rje ; born 1189 ; d. 1258 ) was a Mahasiddha the Drukpa Lineage -School of Tibetan Buddhism, for its Nyamgur ( nyams mgur ; ie songs about spiritual experiences on the path to enlightenment) was known and said to have been an emanation of Milarepa . Its original name is Döndrub Sengge ( don grub seng ge ). His place of work was the Götshang monastery in Lhünzhub , from which his name Götshangpa can be traced back.

Life

He came from Lhodrag (Lhozhag) in southern Tibet, but moved to central Tibet, where he met his main teachers, Tsangpa Gyare Yeshe Dorje ( gtsang pa rgya ras ye shes rdo rje ; 1161–1211) and Sanggye Ön ( sangs rgyas dbon ; 1250–1296) , encountered.

He founded the branch of the Drugpa Kagyu ( ´brug pa bka´ brgyud ; Chinese: Zhuba zhipai 竹 巴 支派) school known as the Upper Drugpa Tradition (stod 'brug) . Gyelwa Yanggönpa (rgyal ba yang dgon pa; 1213–1287) and Orgyenpa Rinchen Pel ( o rgyan pa rin chen dpal ; 1230–1309), Madunpa (ma bdun pa, approx. 1198 – approx. 1265) and Bari Chilkarwa ( bari spyil dkar ba, 1228–1300) were among his most famous students.

In the later years of his life, Götshangpa founded numerous monasteries according to the Blue Annals , including Tengdro 登卓 [steng gro], Pungdra 崩 扎 [spung dra], Jangling 强 林 [byang gling], Dechenteng 德庆 登 [bde chen steng] and Bardrok Dorjeling拔 卓多吉林 [bar 'brog rdo rje gling].
