Life

Götz Rohwer is a son of the composer Jens Rohwer . In the 1970s he was an academic advisor at the University of Osnabrück . He was dismissed in 1978 because of his activities for the Communist League of West Germany (KBW). In addition to his candidacy for the KBW in the local elections in Lower Saxony on October 3, 1976, he was accused of participating in "riots against fare increases and against redevelopment measures" in Osnabrück, as well as disrupting a discussion event of the ring of Christian-Democratic students at the university. The expressions of solidarity by a large number of professors with the person affected by the disciplinary measures caused a sensation.

After his release, Rohwer retrained in business informatics . In the 1980s and 1990s he worked as a research assistant at the Hamburg Institute for Social Research and at the University of Bremen as an assistant to Hans-Peter Blossfeld . His work and research focus there were statistical models for the analysis of event data (" Event History Analysis ").

In 1995 he received his habilitation in Bremen with a thesis on life course research and in 1997 accepted a professorship at the Ruhr University Bochum. There he researches the application of statistical models in social research.

Since the late 1980s, Rohwer has been developing [TDA] (Program for Transition Data Analysis), an extremely powerful and efficient computer program for the statistical analysis of large amounts of data. He put the code under the GPL . The program is documented on the chair's website and can also be downloaded there. Götz Rohwer is married to the actress Karin Nennemann . The couple lives in Hamburg.

Election call of the KBW: “ Parliaments, whether in Bonn, Hanover or Osnabrück, are just smear theaters that are played to the people in order to fake democracy - the decision is made by finance capital (...) The goals of the communists are: liberation of the working class from wage slavery, the abolition of private property and thus the liberation of society as a whole from the yoke of capital. That can only happen through the violent revolution and the establishment of the dictatorship of the proletariat. "
