Günter Frank (politician)

Günter Frank (* 16th June 1946 in Jever / Friesland ) is a Hamburg politician of the SPD .

Life

Frank comes from a classic working-class family (father worker and mother hairdresser). He started school in 1953 in Heidmühle near Jever . At the age of 14 the family moved from East Friesland to Gelsenkirchen . After graduating from the Leibniz Gymnasium in Gelsenkirchen-Buer, he studied economics and political science in Bochum , Hamburg and Manchester from 1967 to 1973 with a degree in economics. After a short period of employment, he studied to become a commercial teacher, which he completed in 1975 as a certified commercial teacher. Since 1977 he has been a senior student councilor at the Kellinghusenstrasse commercial school .

In addition to his parliamentary work, he is a member of the Education and Science Union (GEW), the Workers ' Welfare Association (AWO), the non-profit comprehensive school (GGG), the Rahlstedter Citizens' Association and the Großlohe development association ( Rahlstedt district ).

He is divorced and has a son.

Frank has been a member of the SPD since 1965. He sees Willy Brandt as a role model for his political work . He sits on the board of the SPD Rahlstedt. He is also a member of the Social Democratic Community for Local Politics (SGK).

Between June 20, 1978 and June 23, 1982 he was already a member of the Hamburg Parliament. From 1991 to 2011 he was also a member of the citizenry. He was a member of the parliamentary committee of the SPD. There he sat for his group in the Committee on Europe and Legal Affairs. He was spokesman for the SPD parliamentary group for European politics and town twinning. For his group he was also a member of the European Committee and the Constitutional and District Committee.
