career

Defender Günter Kuczinski came in 1976 from Gelsenkirchen from Erler SV 08 to the team from Strünkede Castle . His first coach in the 2nd Bundesliga was Heinz Murach , who was replaced by Ivica Horvat in December 1976 . The tough defensive player, who was looking for a duel, played his way into the starting line-up of Herne straight away and made 34 league appearances with two goals in 1976/77. The Westfalia took eleventh place. In the third season, 1978/79, the "SC Westfalia Goldin Herne" landed in fifth place in the northern season and Kuczinski had played 32 games (1 goal) in the team of coach Gerhard Prokop . After a total of 90 league games with three goals for Herne, he signed a new contract with Rot-Weiß Lüdenscheid for the 1979/80 round and played in the Nattenberg stadium from then on . Here, too, he underlined his defensive skills in 36 missions for Lüdenscheid and drew the attention of the Bundesliga club Fortuna Düsseldorf's scouts.

"Kusche", the iron-hard pre-stopper with technical weaknesses, was part of the Fortuna Bundesliga squad for six rounds from 1980/81 to 1985/86 under the coaches Otto Rehhagel , Heinz Höher , Jörg Berger , Willibert Kremer and Dieter Brei . In addition to his teammates Egon Köhnen , Amand Theis , Gerd Zewe , Peter Löhr , Josef Weikl , Manfred Bockenfeld , Holger Fach and Andreas Keim , he played a total of 121 Bundesliga games (1 goal). His last Bundesliga appearance was on April 5, 1986 in a 1-1 draw at 1. FC Saarbrücken . After his last position in 1986/87 at KSV Hessen Kassel in the 2nd division, he ended his higher-class active playing career.
