Günter Lucks

Günter Lucks (born October 4, 1928 in Hamburg ) is a German author . In his works, Lucks describes the time of National Socialism and the Second World War . He writes his work together with the editor Harald Stutte. As a contemporary witness , Lucks also conveys his experiences between 1933 and 1945 in schools .

Life

Lucks grew up in the east of Hamburg, in Hammerbrook . His father was an activist in the Red Front Fighter League . Luck's mother was a member of the Red Women and Girls Association . His parents were part of the Hanseatic city's communist establishment . You were in contact with Etkar André and Ernst Thälmann .

National Socialism and World War II

In 1939 Lucks joined the Hitler Youth . At the age of 16, he volunteered as a war volunteer . Lucks joined the Waffen SS and fought against the Red Army in Austria . As a wounded man, Lucks was taken prisoner by the Soviets . His brother Hermann, who was one year older, was killed in the bombing of Hamburg in the summer of 1943 .

post war period

Lucks spent five years in various prison camps . In 1950 he returned to Hamburg.

Federal Republic of Germany

After his Russian experiences and his return, he resumed family tradition and became a member of the Free German Youth . In 1951 he took part in the East Berlin World Youth Games. In 1953 Lucks married. He moved to the GDR with his wife and son . The family lived there for a short time in the brown coal field . Back in Hamburg, Lucks worked for the Deutsche Bundespost until 1955 . Afterwards he worked in the graphic industry . From 1962 until the end of his working life , Lucks was an employee of the Axel Springer Verlag in the printing plant in Ahrensburg . Lucks was a member of the company's works council and is a trade unionist . In 1984 he was the leader of the 13-week strike to start the 35-hour week . Today he is a member of ver.di and active with ver.di senior citizens.

He lives with his wife in Hamburg-Horn .
