Günter Merlau

Günter Merlau (born July 4, 1967 in Bremen ) is a German radio play author and director.

Life

As the son of the opera singers Günter and Monika Merlau, he first studied orchestral music at the Musikhochschule in Bremen, specializing in trombone. As a musician, arranger, producer and interpreter he worked for various band projects and record companies in the 1990s.

In the theater sector, he produced text and music content for various theaters in Germany, such as B. Anthony Burgess Clockwork Orange for the Schauspielhaus Dresden and Elfriede Jelineks A sports piece for the Schauspielhaus Bremen.

In 2004 he founded the production LAUSCH — Fantastic radio play and audio book productions, which was expanded in 2006 together with Janet Sunjic to form the label and publisher LAUSCH — Fantastic radio plays. Since then, Merlau has produced over 60 radio plays for his own and other publishers, in which he was involved as a director, text writer, actor and musician.

Since 2007 he has worked regularly as a director and speaker for audio book productions for various publishers. He has received several awards for his work, such as B. for the best direction in the radio play series Caine and from the book magazine with "Grandios" for his work in the historical novel Tanz unter Sternen by Titus Müller .
