Günter Rauch

Günter Rauch (born November 15, 1935 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a German historian .

life and work

Günter Rauch attended the Humanist High School in Bad Reichenhall from 1946 and moved to Memmingen in 1949 . After graduating from high school in 1954, he studied history in Frankfurt and Munich. From 1959 to 1976 he worked as a research assistant at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main . In 1963 he received his doctorate as Dr. phil. From 1976 to 1980 he headed the private Herder School in Wuppertal , after which he took over the management of the cultural office of the city of Hanau from 1980 to 2000 .

Rauch wrote numerous publications on the imperial, church, regional and local history. He is a member of all Hanau historical societies and the Historical Commission for Hesse in Marburg . For many years he was the deputy chairman of the Hanauer Geschichtsverein 1844 eV and chairman of the sponsoring association Hessisches Puppenmuseum Hanau-Wilhelmsbad eV .

Since 1964 he has been a lecturer at the Hanau Adult Education Center. From 1973 he held the position of lecturer and predicant of the Evangelical Church of Kurhessen-Waldeck , which awarded him the Elisabeth Medal . Since 2004 he has been a guest speaker for the Hanauer Altstadt eV community of interests, for which he gives 4-6 lectures a year to this day (as of 2014). In 2014 he received the “Maître de Secours” ( Master of Help ) award .
