Günther Bauer (physicist)

Günther Bauer (born September 29, 1942 in Znaim ) is an Austrian physicist .

Live and act

Bauer studied physics at the University of Vienna . He completed his habilitation at RWTH Aachen University in the field of high-field transport phenomena and the distribution functions of hot load carriers.

As a professor, he worked at the University of Ulm in the field of FIR spectroscopy and on magneto-optical studies of compound semiconductors . In 1979, Bauer was appointed professor at the Montan University Leoben and in 1990 at the Johannes Kepler University Linz .

Bauer works on heterostructures based on silicon (such as Si / SiGe and Si1-yCy / Si), the MBE growth of IV-VI superlattices, structural investigations using UHV-STM techniques, high-resolution X - ray diffraction and transport and optical properties of low-dimensional structures.
