Günther Geis

Günther Geis (born June 29, 1948 in Obertiefenbach ) is a German theologian and Catholic priest of the Limburg diocese . On his retirement in 2018 he was dean of the Limburg cathedral chapter and episcopal vicar for the synodal area. From 1993 to 2009 he served as vicar general .

biography

Geis attended the Fürst-Johann-Ludwig-Gymnasium in Hadamar , where he graduated from high school in 1967. He then began to study theology at the Philosophical-Theological University of Sankt Georgen in Frankfurt am Main , which he graduated with a diploma in 1972.

In 1973 he was ordained a priest by Bishop Wilhelm Kempf in Limburg Cathedral . Positions as chaplain in Braunfels , Lahnstein , Flörsheim am Main and Wiesbaden followed . From 1981 Geis studied canon law at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome , where he received his doctorate in 1986. jur. can. received his doctorate.
