Günther Habermann

Günther Habermann (born February 23, 1950 ) is a former German football referee .

The trained electrical mechanic from Weißensee in Thuringia , whose career as a referee began in 1968, headed 118 games in the GDR league between 1975 and 1990 and a total of 51 games in the Bundesliga and 22 second division games between 1991 and 1996 . As FIFA referee, he was in charge of a total of four international A matches and four European Cup matches between 1985 and 1991.

Habermann went into the football annals because of a foul penalty imposed on April 13, 1995 in the Bundesliga match Borussia Dortmund against Karlsruher SC . The alleged foul on Andreas Möller when the score was 0: 1 established the national player's reputation as "Schwalben-Möller". Möller was the first player who was subsequently suspended and fined by the DFB because of a swallow .
