Günther Hummer

Günther Hummer (born November 17, 1939 in Ried im Innkreis , Upper Austria ) is an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ).

Life

After attending elementary school and grammar school in Ried im Innkreis, where Hummer graduated from high school in 1958 , he studied law at the University of Innsbruck . After receiving his doctorate in 1964, he initially worked for two years as a trainee judge. But in 1966 he entered the civil service and became a civil servant in 1969 .

In 1973, Hummer was elected deputy mayor of his home town of Ried for his party, the ÖVP, who was to be elected mayor in 1979. Hummer then worked in the mayor's office until 1991. In 1986 he was elected district party chairman of the ÖVP for the Ried im Innkreis district, an office that Hummer held until 1998.

In October 1989, Hummer was sworn in as a member of the Federal Council in Vienna . Hummer was a member of the second Austrian parliamentary chamber for almost eleven years, until March 2000. In the second half of 1997 he was President of the Federal Council .

Günther Hummer is married and has three daughters.
