Ludwig Bieringer

Ludwig Bieringer (born November 25, 1943 in Attnang-Puchheim , Upper Austria ) is an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and was Federal Councilor from 1991 to 2009 and Mayor of Wals-Siezenheim from 1982 to 2013 .

Life

Bieringer graduated from a commercial vocational school and became a member of the Austrian Armed Forces on January 2, 1963 .

Bieringer moved to the then Artillery Regiment 3 in the Schwarzenberg barracks , where he began as an economic assistant. In 1964 he graduated from the Enns Army Sergeant School , was promoted to sergeant in 1966 and held the position of commercial sergeant . In mid-1977 he was promoted to cooking station manager in the Schwarzenberg barracks and in 1978 to deputy lieutenant.

1974 began his political career as a community representative in Wals-Siezenheim. In 1979 he became Vice Mayor and Mayor on June 30, 1982. On May 22, 2013 Bieringer resigned as mayor.

Federal Council and Salzburg State Parliament

On May 16, 1984 he entered the Federal Council for the first time, to which he has remained until now. In 1997 the ÖVP appointed him chairman of the parliamentary group.

Between 1989 and 1991 he was a member of the Salzburg state parliament .

For a total of five years, Bieringer held the office of steward in the Federal Council for two periods, three times for half a year each time. He was also President of the Federal Council, most recently from July 1 to December 31, 2002. On April 20, 2008, Bieringer announced that he would leave the Federal Council in 2009.

Offices

In addition to his work as Federal Councilor and Mayor, Bieringer was chairman of the Austrian Workers' Union (ÖAAB) in Salzburg between 1987 and 2005 and has been president of the AC Wals wrestling club since 1983 , chairman of the Salzburg Basin water association since 1991 and chairman of the Salzburg supervisory board since 1992 Waste disposal GesmbH & Co KG. Bieringer has been President of the Austrian Comradeship Association since 2004 .
