The GGEW AG (group gas and electrical utility mountain road AG) is an energy service provider based in Bensheim in the Bergstraße district in southern Hesse .

The GGEW was founded in 1886 by private individuals. Today the company is owned by the cities and communities of Bensheim, Zwingenberg , Alsbach-Hähnlein , Bickenbach , Seeheim-Jugenheim and Lampertheim .

The purpose of the business is to supply electricity , natural gas and water . The energy supplier has around 140,000 customers nationwide.

In a number of municipalities, GGEW is also responsible for the water supply and billing of wastewater charges and also looks after the street lighting and is expanding the charging infrastructure for electromobility . Since 2003 the baths of the city of Bensheim belong to the GGEW.
