GJ 3021 (also known as HD 1237 ) is a star in the Gliese-Jahreiß catalog that is of particular scientific importance because of its similarity to the sun and the existence of an exoplanet . The star is of the spectral type G6 V and can be found in the constellation Little Water Snake. The star's surface temperature is around 5600 Kelvin , its mass is 90% of the solar mass. There are different opinions about the age of the star, which has been examined very carefully since the discovery of the exoplanet, the assessments vary between 150 million and 8.8 billion years, depending on the determination method . The star is about 57.5 light years (17.6  parsecs ) away from the Sun. 

The companion

The exoplanet orbiting the star is called GJ 3021 b and is likely a gas planet similar to Jupiter .
