Gabriel Ioan Paraschiv (born March 27, 1978 in Moreni ) is a former Romanian football player . The midfielder played a total of 212 games in League 1 and won the Romanian championship with Oțelul Galați in the 2010/11 season .

Career

Paraschiv's career began in his hometown of Moreni at Flacăra Moreni . In 1998 he joined the squad of the first team that played in Divizia C , the third Romanian league. During the winter break, he moved to the neighboring club Chindia Targoviste in the Divizia B . After it had been used regularly in the first six months, it was only rarely considered in the 1999/2000 season. There are only four missions with which he could not prevent the relegation of his team. He stayed with the club for a season in Divizia C before returning to Moreni in 2001.

In the winter break 2001/02 Paraschiv got the opportunity to switch to the first division Petrolul Ploieşti , so that he played his first game in the House of Lords on March 23, 2002. At the end of the 2001/02 season he had to relegate his club, but the team was also kept a league lower. Paraschiv was only used in half of the games in the immediate resurgence. After he had been loaned to the second division club Oltul Sfântu Gheorghe in the 2003/04 season , he returned in the summer of 2004 to Ploiesti, which had been relegated to Divizia B. He missed promotion in the 2004/05 season, however, before Oțelul Galați took him under contract during the winter break , so that he could henceforth play again at the first division level.

At Oțelul he quickly established himself as a regular in the attacking midfield. In the 2008/09 season he managed the best hit yield of his career with nine goals. Under coach Dorinel Munteanu he won the championship in 2011 and thus his first title. In the subsequent group stage of the Champions League he made four appearances, but remained without a goal and was eliminated with his team.

At the end of 2013 Paraschiv ended his active career.

National team

Paraschiv played a game for the Romanian national team . In August 2008 national coach Victor Pițurcă nominated him for a friendly against Latvia , where he was used in the first half.
