Gabriel Plautz

Gabriel Plautz (first name also Gabriele ; last name also Plautius , Plautzius , Plavec , Plautzio , Blautz , Plantz ; nickname Carniolus ; * probably around 1585 in Ljubljana , Duchy of Krain, Inner Austria ; † January 11, 1641 in Mainz ) was court conductor and composer in Mainz .

Life

There is no reliable knowledge about Plautz's youth and training. Due to his style, it is believed that he received his training in Italy, possibly with Ruggiero Giovannelli .

On April 10, 1612 he became court music director in Mainz at the court of the Elector and Archbishop Johann Schweikhard von Kronberg , where he succeeded Jan Le Febure .
