Gabriel Voigtländer
Gabriel Voigtländer (* around 1596 in Reideburg ; † January 23, 1643 in Nykøbing Falster ) was a German trumpeter and songwriter.
Life
Voigtländer was initially an organist, but then became a field trumpeter in Wallenstein's army . In 1625 he came to Lübeck and became the council's field trumpeter . On November 20, 1626 he received citizenship in Lübeck. On December 11, 1626, he married the widow Catrine Korner, and in 1630 he bought the house at Zum Schwarzen Adler at Mühlenstrasse 40.
In 1633 he became a field trumpeter at Gottorf Castle with Duke Friedrich III. from Schleswig-Holstein-Gottorf. He received an unusually high salary and was probably also active as a poet and singer. In 1635 he was called to Denmark in the famous chapel of Crown Prince Christian at his residence in Nykøbing and worked there until his death.
His widow returned to Lübeck.
plant
Voigtländer became famous for his collection of songs, the first part of all odes and songs , published in 1642 . The collection of often humorous texts to German, Dutch, French, Italian and English melodies occupies a special place in the history of the unanimous accompanied song. It reached four new editions by 1664 (1647, 1650, 1651, 1664). Individual songs from it became almost popular and were still popular in the 19th century as house music and among students.
