Gabriel Wagner (mathematician)
Gabriel Wagner (* probably around 1660 in Quedlinburg ; † around 1717 ) was a German philosopher , mathematician and natural scientist who mostly published under the pseudonym Realis de Vienna.
Wagner was a free thinker in the German Enlightenment and advocated a strict separation of philosophy and theology . Although he tolerated theology based on revelation, he vehemently advocated physics, mathematics and political science - in them he saw the foundations of philosophy.
Furthermore, Wagner was in favor of liberation from Aristotelianism and professed eclecticism .

- ↑ Siegfried Wollgast writes in the " Philosophical Clandestina of the German Enlightenment " p. 7: "Gabriel Wagner was probably born in Quedlinburg, the later birth town of Friedrich Klopstock, around 1660. I conclude this from a letter from Otto Mencke to Leibniz; the usual one Fixing Wagner's date of birth to around 1655 or 1665 is, in my opinion, fictitious. In any case, G. Wagner's exact date of birth and death can no longer be determined ... ".
