Gabriele Wieland (born October 26, 1960 in Weingarten (Württemberg) ) is a German politician ( CDU ).

Life

Gabriele Wieland grew up in Upper Swabia. She studied mathematics and German in Freiburg im Breisgau and Vienna . In 1986 she moved to Montabaur in the Westerwald . There she worked for the local editorial team of the Westerwälder Zeitung and the Sparkasse Westerwald-Sieg (as head of the sales control and communication department).

For several years Wieland was chairwoman of the CDU city association of Montabaur , member of the local council, member of the district executive committee and district chairwoman of the CDU Westerwald. She is a member of the district council of the Westerwaldkreis. Since the state elections in Rhineland-Palatinate in 2011 , she was a member of the state parliament of Rhineland-Palatinate . She won the direct mandate in the constituency of Montabaur , which she then successfully achieved in the state election in 2016 .

In the 2014 local election campaign, she ran for the office of mayor of the district town of Montabaur. It prevailed with 52.7 percent of the votes against the common opponent of the "Alliance for the Wende" made up of the SPD, Greens, FWG and BfM. In the local elections in 2019, she was confirmed in office with 73.42% of the votes.

Since the state elections in 2016, she has been the CDU's economic and transport policy spokesperson in the Rhineland-Palatinate state parliament and represents her parliamentary group in the "Committee on Economics and Transport" and in the "Committee on Equality and the Advancement of Women". She was a deputy member of the "Committee on Social Affairs and Labor" and the "Budget and Finance Committee".

She was chairman of the amateur theater die oase Montabaur for over 20 years, is chairman of the association "Together it is possible" to support people with disabilities, member of the board of directors of the Montabaur citizens' association and the support association of the Institute for Artistic Ceramics and Glass.

On August 30, 2019, Wieland was elected full-time alderman of the Westerwaldkreis , thereby resigning her mandate in the state parliament on October 31, 2019. Your successor is Jennifer Groß .
