Gafanha da Nazaré is a parish and city in Ílhavo district of Aveiro district in Portugal .

history

The parish was founded on August 31, 1910 at the behest of King Manuel II , as the last new parish during the period of the Portuguese monarchy. Justified by the strong population increase in the municipality, Gafanha da Nazaré was elevated to a Vila ( small town ) on October 29, 1969 and a Cidade ( town ) on April 19, 2001 .
