description

architecture

The plant was oriented east-west. It had a total length of 11.5 m and a width between 2.5 m and 3 m. The burial chamber had an inner width of 2 m and a ceiling height of 2 m. The chamber was built from paving limestone . These had a length of 1 m and a height of 2.1 m; the thickness is unknown. The chamber was probably completely sunk into the ground and divided into four compartments by upright panels. It is unclear where the access to the chamber was located.

The building material for the chamber probably came from the immediate vicinity. It should have been brought up from a maximum of 1 km away. The material requirement is estimated at around 93 t.

Burials

Skeletal remains of 12 to 20 individuals have been found in each of the four sections of the tomb. These were smashed and buried again when they were first found in 1859. In 1865 they were recovered again. All skeletal remains are lost today.
