The Galgenberg is 506.1  m above sea level. NHN high elevation of the Harz near Elbingerode in the Harz district , Saxony-Anhalt .

The Gallows Hill is located in the Lower Harz in the Harz / Saxony-Anhalt Nature Park east of Elbingerode and marks the highest point of the located there limestone cliff, coach. The Trockweg, which led from Quedlinburg past the Pfalz Bodfeld over the Harz Mountains, presumably ran north of Galgenberg . To the east of the mountain lies the Erdfelde desert , which was closely related to Bodfeld. A large limestone quarry spreads out immediately to the south.

As the name of the mountain, Galgenberg , already indicates, this is the place of execution of the former town of Elbingerode.

The Galgenberg is included as No. 38 in the system of stamping points of the Harz hiking pin.
