particularities | Geographic dominance |
The Galinakopf is a 2198 meter high mountain in the Rätikon , a mountain group of the western central Alps . It lies exactly on the state border between Austria , the federal state of Vorarlberg and Liechtenstein , in the eastern part of the municipality of Balzers ( Valorschbach ). Its southern flank is overgrown with grass up to the summit cross , the other sides consist of partly rugged rock walls. The Galinakopf sends out four distinct ridges to the north, east, south and south-west. The jagged north ridge is Galinagrat and should not be confused with the first east and then to the northeast running with meadows covered Galinagrätle . Due to its height, the mountain has a great geographical dominance compared to its surroundings , it is therefore a popular panoramic mountain that is easy to climb on the southern flank .
Surroundings
The Galinakopf is a good five and a half kilometers as the crow flies north of the Liechtenstein winter sports resort Malbun in the Malbuntal . Vorarlberger Nenzing is a good seven and a half kilometers to the northeast. The mountain falls to the west to the Wurmtal , to the east to the Galinaalpe and to the southwest to the valley of the Valorschbach . The neighboring mountains are significantly lower, in the north of the Galinagrat, separated by the Ziegerbergsattel at 1884 meters, the Hohe Köpfe (up to 2066 m). In the course of the Galinagrätle, separated by an unnamed saddle (1820 m), in the north-east lies the Lohnspitz at 1801 meters, the highest point of the Grätle is the survey point at 1863 meters. In the south of the Galinakopf lies the 2006 meter high Wurmtalkopf and in the west finally the Langspetz with 2050 meters.
ways
The normal route upside down leads through the southern flank on an easy hiking trail that starts at the Mattajoch inn on the Gampalpe (1562 m). According to the literature, the walking time is about two hours. An easy ascent is also possible from Malbun in the south. The Galinagrat, on the other hand, also offers climbing opportunities.
Trivia
- Traditionally, the dress handover to new players of the VBC Galina volleyball club takes place at sunrise on the Galinakopf.
