Galten is a Danish municipality in central East Jutland ( Region Midtjylland ; German: Region Central Jutland). It has 8,828 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020) and is located about 17 km west of Aarhus . As part of a further structural reform , the municipalities of Galten , Hørning and Ry merged with Skanderborg on January 1, 2007 . The total area of the new Skanderborg municipality covers 436.1 km².
The Galter Church was built in 1884.
Galten has been a twin town to the Lower Saxony city of Sulingen in the Diepholz district since 1986 .
