The small municipal area is almost completely built on, larger green areas are the Rivieren Castle Park and the King Baldwin Park in the far north of the municipality.

The castle of Rivieren, the swamps of Ganshoren and above all the national basilica of the Sacred Heart on the Koekelberg , which lies on the municipality border with Koekelberg, are worth seeing . politics

In the local elections in 2012, Michèle Carthé ( Parti Socialiste , PS), in office since 2001, was replaced by Hervé Gillard from the liberal Mouvement Réformateur (MR) party . He died in office on January 18, 2017. He had already left the office three months earlier due to illness and transferred the management to the non-party Jean-Paul Van Laethem.

In January 2017, Robert Genard, also from the MR, was elected as the new mayor, who continues the coalition with the PS. In the opposition there is a joint list of independents and the Christian Democrats ( CDV and cdH ). This “Pro Ganshoren” list also includes Pierre Kompany, father of the Belgian national player Vincent Kompany . Robert Genard has announced that he will run for the local elections in 2018 in a joint list of MR-Pro Ganshoren.
