Gao Tingyu (born December 15, 1997 ) is a Chinese speed skater .

Career

Gao Tingyu started the World Cup for the first time in Stavanger in January 2016 and finished 31st and 29th in the B group over 1000 m and places 26 and one in the B group over 500 m. At the end of February 2016, he came in 24th at the Sprint World Championship in Seoul . At the 2016 Junior World Championships in Changchun , he won the silver medal in the team sprint. In addition, he achieved 56th place over 500 m and 11th place over 1000 m. At the beginning of the 2016/17 season he became Chinese champion over 500 m in Ürümqi and achieved his first podium finish in the World Cup in Harbin with second place over 500 m . In February 2017 he finished tenth over 500 m at the individual distance world championships in Gangwon and won the gold medal over 500 m at the Winter Asian Games 2017 in Obihiro . At the end of December 2017 he was again Chinese champion in the 500 m. The following year he won bronze over 500 m at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang .
