García Guerra
Francisco García Guerra (* 1545 in Frómista , Spain , † February 22, 1612 in Mexico City ) was a Spanish Dominican who served as Archbishop of Mexico and Viceroy of New Spain.
Life
At the age of 15, Guerra joined the Dominican Order in the monastery of Valladolid and was elected prior there.
In 1608 King Philip III appointed him . Archbishop of Mexico and in 1611 Viceroy of New Spain. In his short tenure from June 1611 until his death in February 1612, he was concerned above all with the fate of the local residents. It was overshadowed by a severe earthquake.
When he got into his carriage, he unfortunately injured his forehead. After a while, he died of the consequences of this injury.
