Gardenstown , formerly Gamrie , is a Scottish town in the Aberdeenshire Council Area . It is located in the traditional county of Banffshire about twelve kilometers east of Banff on the steep coast of the Moray Firth on Gamrie Bay .
history
St John's Church was probably built near today's Gardenstown in 1004 . Today's Gamrie Parish Church was built in 1830.
The Garden family acquired Troup, northeast of Gardenstown, in 1654 . Alexander Garden of Troup , father of the politicians Alexander Garden and Francis Garden, Lord Gardenstone , had Gardenstown built as a planned settlement in 1720. The Villa Troup House was built towards the end of the 19th century . Gardenstown developed with sea fishing. In Gardenstown in 1881 there were a total of 98 fishing boats on which 155 residents worked.
Between 1841 and 1881 the population increased gradually from 348 to 871. In 1961 there were still 906 inhabitants. Since then, the number of inhabitants has declined until 2011.

Gardenstown is connected to the road network via a secondary road. The B9031 connects the village to the east and west of Fraserburgh to Fochabers leading A98 at.
