Gareth Martin (born October 3, 1982 in Belfast , Northern Ireland , United Kingdom ) is a former Northern Irish ice hockey player who spent almost his entire career on the Irish island. Internationally he played for the Irish national ice hockey team .

Career

Gareth Martin, who was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, began his career with the Belfast Giants , for whom he made his debut in 2003 in the Elite Ice Hockey League , the British top division. After a detour to Scotland, where he was on the ice with the Solway Sharks from Dumfries , he returned to the Emerald Isle and initially played again for the Giants in the Elite Ice Hockey League. He later played for the Belfast City Bruins and the Flyers Ice Hockey Club from Dublin in the Irish Ice Hockey League . When they stopped playing in 2010, he ended his club career.

International

British citizen Martin competed with the Irish national team in the Division III World Championships in 2005 , 2007 , 2010 when he had the best plus / minus record of the tournament and in 2012 . At the 2011 World Cup he played with his team in Division II.
