Garrett vs. Paganini is the sixteenth album by the German violinist David Garrett .
The album was released on October 25, 2013. It is related to the film " Der Teufelsgeiger " by director Bernard Rose , which opened in German cinemas on October 31, and deals with the rise and fall of Niccolò Paganini (with Garrett in the lead role).
background
In the title “Garrett vs. Paganini ”the“ versus ”is not to be understood as“ against ”, but rather as“ opposite ”. "It is precisely about this comparison of two of the greatest virtuosos of their time," write Dr. Burkhard and Sibylle Schäfer in the booklet of the CD, and draw parallels between the two “charismatic artist personalities” and “geniuses” - Garrett and his “role model” Paganini.
Garrett worked not only as a musician, but also as a producer and composer . In addition, he was responsible for the arrangements of the pieces and designed the cover and design of the CD. ( see here )
The internationally known musicians Andrea Bocelli ( Ma Dove Sei ), Nicole Scherzinger ( Io Ti Penso Amore ) and Steve Morse ( Scarlatti Sonata in F minor K466 ) contributed to the album.
The following statement by Garrett about the recordings is printed in the CD booklet:
“The recording for the Paganini film was the most intense project I have ever done for me. It has always been a special dream of mine to write and arrange music for a film. "
"The recording for the Paganini film was the most intense project I have ever undertaken. It has always been a special dream of mine to write and arrange music for a film. "
