Gary William Aldcorn (born March 7, 1935 in Shaunavon , Saskatchewan ) is a retired Canadian ice hockey player and coach who played for the Toronto Maple Leafs , Detroit Red Wings and Boston Bruins in the National Hockey League .
Career
Gary Aldcorn began his career as a hockey player in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League with the Winnipeg Monarchs , for which he played for a total of three years from 1951 to 1954. The 1953/54 season he ended with city rivals, the Winnipeg Maroons . He then played a season for the Toronto Marlboros , with whom he won the 1955 Memorial Cup . For the following season he moved to the Winnipeg Warriors from the Western Hockey League , with whom he won the Edinburgh Cup in 1956 .
From 1956 to 1959 Aldcorn played in the National Hockey League for the Toronto Maple Leafs , as well as for their farm team at the time , the Rochester Americans from the American Hockey League . From 1959 to 1961, the Canadian played in the NHL for the Detroit Red Wings and the Boston Bruins . In the years 1961 to 1965 Aldcorn played again with the Winnipeg Maroons from the SSHL and then from 1965 to 1968 in their league rivals, the St. Boniface Mohawks , where he ended his career in the 1967/68 season as a player-coach.
International
At the Ice Hockey World Championship in 1965 , Aldcorn played the only time for the Canadian national team at a tournament. In 1969 and 1970, Aldcorn returned to Team Canada as an assistant coach .
