Gary Formato

Gary Formato (born November 19, 1974 in Johannesburg ) is a former South African racing driver .

Racing career

Gary Formato came to Europe in 1995 after starting out in the South African monoposto sport to compete in the International Formula 3000 Championship . Formato was Christian Pescatori's team-mate at the Italian Durango Equipe . He did not achieve championship points in his eight races.

Formato competed in sports car races from 1998 . He won the Kyalami 2:30 hour race twice. 1998 together with Jérôme Policand on a Riley & Scott Mk III and in 2000 with partner Ralf Kelleners on a Lola B98 / 10 . He celebrated another success with Mauro Baldi at the 500 km race in Monza 2000 . Formato competed three times in the Le Mans 24-hour race . All three missions ended prematurely due to technical defects in the emergency vehicles.

Until the end of the season he drove races in South African touring car racing and then retired from active racing.
