The Gasthaus Zur Goldenen Krone is a listed inn from the 17th century in Darmstadt ( Hesse ).

History and description

The Gasthaus Zur Goldenen Krone was built in 1681 and is one of the oldest inns in Darmstadt. In 1890, today's facade in the style of early historicism was added to the original half-timbered structure . The whole ground floor is displayed through the imitation stone blocks - rustication as a solid base of the building. In 1894, the sculptor Wagner made the masks on the keystones above the windows and doors.

The first floor forms the bel étage . The bel étage has two continuous cornices in the parapet area and horizontal roofs over the windows.

The Gasthaus Zur Goldenen Krone was slightly damaged in the Second World War . After the war, the roof was rebuilt in a simplified form. An ornate, wrought-iron lantern bracket with a coat of arms and a crown has also been preserved .

Monument protection

For architectural and city history reasons, the building is a cultural monument .
