The Gasthof zum Schwan in Sommerach , a municipality in the Lower Franconian district of Kitzingen ( Bavaria ), was built around 1700. The inn at Hauptstraße 10 is a protected architectural monument . Beer was also brewed in the buildings for a long time.

description

The portal system of the two-storey building made of local sandstone consists of a round-arched courtyard gate and the entrance portal, which is provided with the initials of the client HBU , for Hans Barthel Ulrich, and the year 1708. The portal is crowned by a group of figures of the Holy Family , over which God the Father and the Holy Spirit hover.

On the facade of Maintorstraße there is a shell niche with a three-dimensional Pietà .

The living rooms on the upper floor have stucco motifs from the building period on the ceilings. The large dance hall , also on the upper floor, was redesigned in 1900 for the 200th anniversary of the property. The Würzburg painter Hans Sperlich created a multi-figured painting on the Sommeracher Katzenkopf vineyard .

In 2001, the exemplary renovation was awarded the Monument Protection Medal of the Free State of Bavaria .

brewery

The history of the brewery in the buildings of the Schwanengasthof has only been handed down in gaps. In 1504 for the first time was in Sommerach fully licensed beer. At that time, the bar was limited to the subjects of the Münsterschwarzach Abbey , who ruled the village over Sommerach. The brewery in the Gasthof zum Schwan existed for over 300 years.

In 1796 the host Adam Ostreicher was found in the swan. In 1811, a beer brewer appeared in the lists of the villagers, the then Schwanenwirt. The brewery also had an ice cellar in the municipality, which was built in 1678 and renovated by Friedrich Plettner in 1879.
