Christoph Gauke began working as a publisher in 1971 under the name Chr. Gauke Verlag . In the 1970s the publishing house was in Scheden , in the 1980s in the city of Hann. Münden . The company was registered on July 27, 1980 as "Gauke GmbH Verlag". Before concentrating entirely on social economics, the publisher had a wide range of non-fiction, fiction and poetry.

In 1980 the program of the Dittmer publishing house became part of Gauke Verlag. In the area of ​​poetry, Gauke has since cultivated a range of German-language poetry that was based on Japanese poetry.
