The Gauliga Südwest 1935/36 was the third season of the Gauliga Südwest in football. The title was secured for the first time by VfR Wormatia Worms , who jumped to first place with a 4-1 win over leaders Eintracht Frankfurt on the last day of the game and thus came in ahead of FK Pirmasens with the same number of points , who had led the field for much of the season. In the subsequent final round of the German championship , the Wormatia failed in the preliminary group at the later champions 1. FC Nuremberg. In addition to promoted Opel Rüsselsheim , last year's champions FC Phönix Ludwigshafen surprisingly had to relegate to the district class - the club had violated the amateur statutes and had to do without several players, and a court ban was imposed because of spectator riots at the game against Eintracht Frankfurt. As a climber returned to the 1936/37 round with the SV Wiesbaden and Sportfreunde 05 Saarbrücken, two founding members of the Gauliga Südwest.
