The Gauligletscher is a valley glacier in the eastern Bernese Alps , in the canton of Bern of Switzerland . It is about 6 km long, an average of 1 km wide and, together with its side glaciers, covers an area of about 13.5 km².

The Gauli Glacier takes its starting point on the eastern flank of the Berglistock and the Rosenhorn , which belongs to the Wetterhorn group, at over 3400 m. In its nutrient area, the glacier is connected by firn-covered ridges to the west with the Upper Grindelwald glacier and to the north with the Rosenlauigletscher . The Gauligletscher flows to the east and is flanked in the north by the Hangendgletscherhorn (3292 m), in the south by Ewigschneehorn (3329 m), Trifthorn (3230 m) and Hienderstock (3307 m). The glacier receives more ice from the southern slope of the valley, which is almost completely covered by firnen. The most important of these side glaciers is the Grienbärgligletscher , which has its origin between the Ewigschneehorn and the Trifthorn. The tongue of the Gauli Glacier ends in the early 2000s at 2150 m and calved in two lakes, which only formed in the second half of the 20th century when the glacier retreated. With the further retreat of the glacier, the Gaulisee emerged from the two lakes , the outflow of which is the Ürbachwasser , which flows into the Aare at Innertkirchen .

To the north of the glacier tongue is the Gaulihütte of the Swiss Alpine Club SAC at 2205 m . It serves as a starting point for glacier and mountain tours in the catchment area of the Gauli Glacier.

At the end of 1946, an American military plane crashed on the Gauli Glacier. The rescue of the survivors caused a sensation around the world at the time; Among other things, it was the first alpine air rescue in the world ( plane crash on the Gauli Glacier ).
