geography
course
The largest source river of the Ürbach water is the Gummenbach , which is fed by various source streams and glacier runoff . These collect below the Gauli Glacier in the Gaulisee at 2140 m above sea level. M. The Gummenbach overcomes a little over 200 meters in altitude in a north-easterly direction and flows into the Mattenalpsee at an altitude of 1873 m above sea level. M. . The water from the reservoir is used by the Oberhasli power plants (KWO) to generate electricity. A six kilometer long tunnel leads from the Mattenalpsee into the Aare valley, where the water is fed into the Handeckfluh moated castle and used by the machine houses in Innertkirchen .
The natural runoff from the Mattenalpsee is called Ürbachwasser and initially flows in a north-westerly direction into the valley. At an altitude of 1330 m above sea level. M. flows from the left of the Tobegger and shortly thereafter the Wyssenbach at 1285 m above sea level. M. to. Now the river flows through the Urbach valley to the north, with many other streams flowing into it. At 830 m above sea level M. the Ürbachwasser reaches the Ürbachsallmend and now flows again in a north-easterly direction, where it has buried itself about 100 meters in altitude at the valley exit. At Pfengli, some of the water is collected in front of the valley exit and fed to the Innertkirchen 3 power plant, which belongs to the KWO. In the valley, the Ürbachwasser flows into the Aare near Innertkirchen.
Catchment area
The catchment area of the Ürbachwasser has a size of almost 70 km². The highest point in the catchment area reaches a height of 3639 m above sea level. M.
